New partnership pairs blood donation with preventive testing to strengthen the blood supply and expand access to health insights
CENTREVILLE, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Goodlabs, a health technology company that partners with nonprofit blood centers, today announced a pilot launch with Inova that offers optional free, clinical-grade bloodwork to eligible donors who book and complete a blood donation through the Goodlabs platform.
The partnership is designed to support two goals at once: strengthening the local blood supply and expanding access to preventive health insights. Through the program, donors who schedule through Goodlabs can receive wellness panels processed by CLIA-certified labs and delivered securely through a private Goodlabs account with clear, plain-language explanations.
Blood donations among younger Americans are down 40% compared with a decade ago, while preventive health data remains financially out of reach for many uninsured and underinsured residents. Goodlabs addresses both challenges by pairing blood donation with free wellness panels processed by CLIA-certified labs and delivered via private, AI-guided results.
“Bloodwork can be expensive, which puts preventive care out of reach for gig workers, the uninsured, and young people trying to optimize their health before issues accumulate,” said Grant Brewster, CEO and co-founder of Goodlabs. “Younger donors participate at shockingly lower rates compared to prior generations. We want to make it easy and motivating to strengthen the blood supply, and receive useful health insights.”
A Public Health Model at Scale
Goodlabs supports blood center partners by facilitating blood donations while providing donors with comprehensive health panels that can cost $200–$500 if insurance does not cover the tests. Goodlabs also offers a platform for people to analyze past results and track metrics over time.
The partnership operates as a turnkey overlay on existing blood center operations, with no new IT integration required, and Goodlabs does not share protected health information with blood center partners.
“People want to understand their health data, but cost is the barrier,” said Adam Eldefrawy, CTO and co-founder of Goodlabs. “We’re channeling that motivation into something that helps everyone: donating blood.”
“We’re excited to offer this service to our Centreville‑area donors as a way to thank them for giving back. Through a single blood donation, donors can help save lives while also learning more about their own health, making the experience even more meaningful for our community,” said Nicholas Lilly, Senior Director of Inova Blood Donor Services, Inova.
This program does not change the donation process. It adds an optional lab benefit for participating donors, all in one seamless process.
How It Works
Donors visit goodlabs.com, choose from physician-designed wellness panels, and book a blood donation appointment at participating Inova donation locations.
After completing the donation, donors receive results through a secure Goodlabs account, including plain-language education to help them understand what the results mean.
Goodlabs operates using HIPAA-compliant workflows and does not share protected health information with blood center partners.
