MCKINNEY, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–StatLab Medical Products, a leading developer and manufacturer of pathology supplies and equipment, today announced it has been named 2025 Sustainable Supplier of the Year in the 2026 Scientists’ Choice Awards® hosted by SelectScience®. The award, determined by votes from scientists and healthcare professionals worldwide, recognizes suppliers making a measurable impact on laboratory sustainability.
Central to StatLab’s sustainability efforts is its transition to a vertically-integrated manufacturing model that consolidates both product and container production in North Texas. By bringing prefill and gallon bottle container manufacturing in-house, StatLab eliminated the need to transport empty containers from third-party suppliers across multiple state lines. This shift significantly reduces transportation requirements and supply chain complexity, saving an estimated 9,000 miles of driving each month and approximately 43.2 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
StatLab’s glass manufacturing operations in Braunschweig, Germany further demonstrate how upstream production decisions contribute to meaningful environmental impact. On-site solar panels at the facility generate up to 300 kW of power, covering approximately 40% of peak electricity demand and reducing carbon emissions by up to 300 metric tons per year. Beginning in 2026, production of KT® Slides for the U.S. market will transition to domestic manufacturing, further reducing the environmental impact associated with intercontinental transportation.
