Combined platform pairs agentic AI with governed data to close care gaps, coordinate complex cases and complete multi-step patient journeys
SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DexCare, Inc. today announced the acquisition of Mila Health (Mila), an AI care coordination company whose agents call, text and chat with patients to get them scheduled, prepared and seen. Mila runs on DexCare’s access data model—proven across more than 10 million bookings—which standardizes scheduling data and institutional know-how into one rulebook for any service line, under the health system’s control.
“Mila gives our data a voice, and our data gives Mila direction,” said Matt Blosl, CEO of DexCare. “AI solutions are everywhere, but health systems quickly realize that building the infrastructure, scaling the pilot, and managing the agent’s boundaries is untenable. Most agents lack contextual awareness to connect a health system, to know the relationships between service lines and the nuances and preferences of staff, locations and providers. Any agent can sound incredibly human, but ours understands the health system it speaks for.”
“With Mila, DexCare pairs our access data model—the intelligence that controls where, when and how to navigate a patient—with agents that act on it, from calling someone who’s overdue for a visit, to walking them through what a procedure requires, and checking in once they’re home,” added Blosl. “The era of stitching together tools, one at a time, to solve one access challenge is over.”
DexCare’s platform connects disjointed data and knowledge into a rulebook that governs patient access. Credentialing, referral requirements, insurance and scheduling protocols vary by location, provider and scheduler, and DexCare reconciles them before a conflict reaches a patient. Mila’s agents draw on approved workflows to answer the questions that decide a visit, like whose slot is open, whether the patient qualifies and whether a closer or more appropriate option exists.
“Many scheduling technologies work for simple visits, but they struggle when clinical requirements and scheduling rules become more complex,” said Dr. Peter Chang, senior vice president and chief transformation officer at Tampa General Hospital. “DexCare efficiently codified 260 scheduling policies and uncovered more than 50 gaps. Bringing scheduling and clinical logic together in a single system enables AI to accurately coordinate complex specialty care, not just for one clinic, but expanded across our entire enterprise.”
Mila works with payers, providers and software systems. In production, its agents achieve a 54% patient response rate during outbound outreach, which is 80% higher than manual call centers. Mila agents reduce no-show rates by 50% and increase revenue by 18%.
“Healthcare can’t rely on out-of-the-box large language models because they’re unpredictable and can’t be audited,” said Shailu Verma, co-founder and CEO of Mila Health. “With DexCare, providers and payers can configure an AI agent to complete the tasks they can’t staff for and trace how it decided each step. Mila solves more and escalates less, so leaders can place their people on the work that needs a person.”
Mila transforms manual coordination work into completed action, operating within the systems that payers, providers and health-technology teams use. Mila is designed as an API-first system that can be configured, governed and embedded into existing workflows to launch AI agents in hours.
The deal is DexCare’s second acquisition.
DexCare spun out of Providence Health in 2021. The company has raised $146 million to date, including a $75 million Series C round led by ICONIQ Growth in 2023, and acquired Womp, Inc. in 2022 to bring consumer-grade search and scheduling to healthcare. DexCare ranked No. 1 for patient experience in KLAS’s 2025 Emerging Solutions Top 20 report.
