Sightview Debuts New AI Scribe and AI Vision Verify at AAO 2026

Integrated AI scribe and eyecare-specific insurance verification saves time and improves operations across the practice

TAMPA, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AIScribe—Sightview, the only electronic health record and practice management partner focused solely on eyecare, today announced two AI offerings that it will showcase at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) 2026 annual meeting, Oct. 9-12 in New Orleans. Both new products are built within the new ophthalmology EMR/PM platform Sightview launched earlier this year, expanding on the company’s focus on reducing administrative work at eye care practices.

“We launched our new platform, Sightview, with a goal of modernizing the user experience, while also alleviating friction from practices in the exam room and in the back office,” said Tycene Fritcher, CEO of Sightview. “Because we built the platform with the future in mind, our AI tools are baked in. The AI scribe can intelligently interact with a patient chart in real-time. The insurance verification saves staff hours of manually logging into insurance portals before a patient visit. We want Sightview to be known for easy, modern solutions that simplify workflows and fit the way eyecare organizations operate.”

Both new tools are part of Sightview’s planned modernization and improvements to the platform and its technologies:

– Sightview AI Scribe: Unlike generic, plug-in scribe tools, Sightview’s AI Scribe was trained on ophthalmology-specific terminology and speech patterns to recognize provider language and input notes into the correct fields in the chart. Instead of creating a single, generic summary, the scribe leverages the user’s typical code sets and documentation habits to turn words into action. Providers retain full control over finalized outputs, supporting clinical documentation integrity as well as downstream billing and quality reporting.

– Sightview AI Vision Verify: Insurance verification has been a long-standing and cumbersome gap in eyecare, with many vision insurers working outside of standard clearinghouse networks. AI Vision Verify automates the manual process, logging into vision insurance portals on staff’s behalf to automatically pull patient eligibility and benefit information directly into the practice workflow.

“This is where our exclusive focus on eyecare pays off,” Fritcher said. “We aren’t adapting a generic health IT platform for ophthalmology. We’re building tools around the specific needs of the specialty, from the way providers talk in the exam room to the insurance rules that make vision benefits uniquely complex to verify.”

Sightview will preview both new AI tools at AAO 2026 booth #2355, with a phased rollout to its existing client base in the weeks following the show.
