SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Asteres, the industry leader in 24/7 automated pharmacy pickup, announced today that North Carolina joins the list of more than 30 states that allow for self-service prescription pickup via secure lockers such as Asteres’ flagship product, ScriptCenter®. With over 5 million prescriptions delivered worldwide, and more than 200 units deployed in prestigious healthcare, government, and retail pharmacies, ScriptCenter® helps pharmacies improve adherence, outcomes, and margins.
North Carolina’s Board of Pharmacy regulation, 21 NCAC 46 .1821 Direct-to-Patient Delivery Systems, allows for ScriptCenter® to be installed in pharmacies and remote pharmacies with a limited service permit.
“We are thrilled to see yet another state recognize the value of ScriptCenter® by adopting rules to allow for the use of prescription pickup lockers,” said David J. Lenny, Asteres President & CEO. “Expanding options for patients to securely pick up medications at a time and location that’s convenient for them, increases access to prescriptions and ultimately improves healthcare for pharmacy patients.”
ScriptCenter®, with a live on-screen pharmacist available for consultation, provides a safe and convenient prescription pickup service to patients in a variety of locations to enhance patient care and expand pharmacy footprint without having to build pharmacies or add additional staff.
“Asteres understands the unique challenges pharmacies face today with staffing shortages, increased costs, and pressure to expand hours while providing omni-channel options for patients to access their prescriptions via counter pickup, delivery, or automated means,” continued Lenny. “ScriptCenter® provides another tool in a pharmacy’s toolbox to offer exceptional service to patients by reducing lines, expanding hours, and freeing up pharmacy staff to spend time with patients who need it most.”
