- Brellium’s proprietary system reviews every patient note, giving providers a defensible, audit-ready record that protects revenue and ensures the highest standard of care
- As federal and private scrutiny of healthcare billing intensifies, Brellium has already protected nearly $2 billion in provider revenue across more than 22 million patient visits
- Led by Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital, the funding will support Brellium’s expansion into new clinical specialties
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Brellium, the AI-powered clinical compliance platform trusted by more than 215,000 providers, today announced it has raised $23 million in venture funding and unveiled CortexLM – its proprietary system for analyzing patient notes for gaps in care and compliance that cost providers billions. Led by Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital, with participation from Digital Health Venture Partners, Brellium will use this financing to serve more provider groups across additional specialties and go deeper into the revenue cycle.
Audits are accelerating as federal and private payers have sharply increased scrutiny of healthcare billing, forcing providers to defend every dollar and patient note against a different set of payor, regulatory and quality rules. By the time an issue surfaces, it is often already a denial, a clawback or a care error.
Brellium built CortexLM, a chart-auditing system that reads every patient note, catching errors and proposing fixes in care and clinical documentation before billing. Trained against each provider’s specific requirements, CortexLM gives them a defensible, audit-ready record that protects revenue and adds a layer of quality assurance. To date, Brellium has audited 22 million patient visits and protected nearly $2 billion in provider revenue from recoupments.
“Providers and payers have been stuck fighting the same fraud, waste and abuse problem from opposite sides of the table for years,” said Zach Rosen, co-founder and CEO of Brellium. “CortexLM is how we get everyone working from the same standard, so providers can prove the care was right the first time, instead of spending months untangling it after the fact.”
“We were excited to double down and back Brellium again because of their exceptional execution since first starting to work with them,” said Henry Toole, partner at Left Lane Capital. “The team is laser-focused on creating a product that adds real value for their customers. And while compliance isn’t the most glamorous part of the market, their platform is the infrastructure everything else depends on.”
Headspace scaled its clinical quality assurance program from reviewing 2% of therapy notes to 100% after adopting Brellium, and now sees 99.2% provider compliance with documentation standards. Plus, if CMS or a payer finds a problem after Brellium has already cleared it, Brellium will foot the bill instead of the provider.
“The biggest benefit of Brellium is peace of mind in ensuring high-quality patient care,” said Jon Kole, medical director at Headspace.
Brellium’s customer base now spans more than 215,000 providers and 200 provider groups across all 50 states, including multi-specialty platforms and national providers like Gentiva and Maxim Healthcare and behavioral health organizations like Rula and Headspace. Brellium will use the infusion of funding to go deeper into the revenue cycle and expand into additional high-stakes clinical specialties, including cardiology, pain management and primary care.
