CorVista Health Announces New AMA Category III CPT® Code for Augmentative AI Analysis of Cardiopulmonary Disease

  • The Category III CPT® code supports adoption and a potential reimbursement pathway for the CorVista System, a single point-of-care test for assessing multiple cardiovascular conditions

BETHESDA, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CorVista Health, has announced that the American Medical Association (AMA) has granted a new Category III Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code for novel augmentative AI algorithmic analysis of potential coronary artery disease (CAD), pulmonary hypertension (PH), and elevated pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). The new code encompasses the FDA-cleared CorVista® System for CAD and PH, as well as the anticipated PCWP Add-On algorithm which is currently under FDA review and not commercially available in the United States.

CPT codes are used by physicians, hospitals, and public and private health insurance programs in the United States to identify medical services and procedures. Category III CPT codes are temporary codes assigned to emerging technologies, services, and procedures, and are commonly used to support data collection, utilization tracking, and the development of future reimbursement pathways.

The new Category III CPT code, 1104T, will become effective Jan. 1, 2027, and will support reporting for the use of the CorVista System in the assessment of potential CAD, PH, and elevated PCWP using augmentative algorithmic analysis of orthogonal voltage gradient and photoplethysmography signals. The code represents an important milestone in CorVista’s reimbursement strategy and supports broader adoption of its point-of-care technology across cardiovascular care settings.

“Receiving a Category III CPT code from the AMA is a significant milestone for CorVista and for the broader movement toward earlier, more accessible cardiovascular diagnosis,” said Adrian Lam, President and Chief Executive Officer of CorVista Health. “CorVista was built to help physicians make more informed decisions at the initial point of care, before patients enter a long and fragmented diagnostic journey. This new code strengthens the foundation for broader clinical adoption.”

The CorVista System is designed to help clinicians evaluate symptomatic patients earlier in the diagnostic pathway, using a single, non-invasive signal capture performed at the point of care. The system collects cardiac and hemodynamic signals while the patient is at rest, securely transfers those signals to CorVista’s cloud-based platform, and applies proprietary AI-based algorithms to generate actionable diagnostic insights. CorVista materials describe the system as delivering results without the use of radiation, contrast agents, injections, fasting, or exercise.

“Cardiovascular disease diagnosis remains too slow and too fragmented,” added Nikki Troiano Gainey, Chief Customer Officer of CorVista Health. “By enabling a single office-based test to support assessment, CorVista has the potential to bring advanced cardiopulmonary insight to the initial point of care.”

About the CorVista® System

The CorVista System is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics platform designed to analyze cardiac and hemodynamic signals using AI-based algorithms. The system synchronously collects physiological signals during a brief point-of-care test and applies advanced analytics to identify patterns associated with pulmonary hypertension and coronary artery disease. The system received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for coronary artery disease in September 2023 and pulmonary hypertension in April 2024, with additional indications, including heart failure, currently under FDA review. The CorVista System delivers actionable diagnostic insights without the use of radiation, contrast agents, injections, fasting, or exercise. The CorVista System is developed and manufactured by Analytics For Life, Inc. and licensed to CorVista Health, Inc.

About the CorVista® System PCWP Add-On

The CorVista System Add-On for elevated PCWP is currently an investigational device, limited by Federal (United States) law to investigational use, and is not available for commercial distribution.
