Further developments include Plug + Play Tech Center selecting G8RTech for its inaugural Sportstech Batch 1 cohort
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–G8RTech, Inc., a specialized protective equipment company, has announced the launch of G8RSkin™ Shiesty, an innovative head covering shown to reduce concussion risk through extensive laboratory testing.
Also, G8RTech has announced the appointment of Don Silvestri to its advisory board. A celebrated placekicker for the New York Jets, Silvestri is president of the NFLPA Former Players South Florida Chapter, one of the largest chapters in the organization.
G8RSkin™ Shiesty is the culmination of a yearlong collaboration with athletes across a variety of sports, including football, lacrosse, hockey, and skiing, through live pilot testing. By taking the athletes’ feedback and iterating on the design, G8RTech has built a product with a streamlined design that optimizes for player hearing, comfort, and is ~8 ounces (1/3 the weight of the original G8RSkin), all while preserving an excellent relative concussion risk reduction of up to 79%.
Supplemental features include perforation over the ears for unobstructed hearing on the playing field and a built-in pocket for cooling gel packs inserted along the back of the neck.
G8RSkin™ Shiesty has been successfully tested by numerous 6A public high schools in North Texas and numerous private schools as well as private universities across the U.S. during spring practices in the run-up to the official product launch. Josh Ausborne, Senior Running Back from Wylie High School, commented on his experience: “I like it a lot. We got into contact the other day. First play, head-to-head contact, I really didn’t feel anything. It was really nice.”
In other news, the Plug + Play Tech Center—among the leading tech incubators—just selected G8RTech as one of 11 companies for its inaugural Sportstech Batch 1 cohort. This selection speaks to the overt innovation of G8RTech’s products and leadership team, as well as the success of the company’s business model.
G8RTech focuses its design and manufacturing partnerships in supporting American businesses, with a specific focus on partnering with firms in Northern Texas and Baltimore. One such partner, Expert Apparel Manufacturing, located in Dallas, Texas, is the primary assembly partner for all G8RTech products.
