Physician-founded patient AI company adds one of healthcare’s most prominent physician executives as its free app passes 30,000 users
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kin Health Technologies, Inc. (Kin), the physician-founded company behind a free app that records medical appointments and turns them into plain-language summaries for patients and caregivers, today announced that Dr. Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan, has joined the company as an executive advisor.
The appointment comes as the health-AI industry debates how much clinical involvement its products need. A recent study in npj Digital Medicine of 3,807 AI health startups found that founding teams are predominantly technical and business-oriented, with limited clinical representation. Kin was co-founded by two practicing physicians and is taking the opposite approach: building clinical depth into its team structure by design.

Dr. Jain brings the perspective of both a payer executive and a physician. SCAN Health Plan serves nearly 460,000 Medicare Advantage members as of September 2026—a population for whom comprehension and follow-through after a visit directly shape outcomes and cost. That population is also a core focus for Kin: most of the app’s most active users are older Americans. As an advisor, Dr. Jain will help Kin deepen its work with that user base and partner with health plans and other organizations that serve aging Americans.
