New data shows independent clinicians save up to nine hours weekly with AI-powered offerings and spend 20% less time on insurance billing, reducing administrative burden
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SimplePractice, the leading platform powering more than 250,000 independent mental health practitioners, today announced the introduction of new analytics capabilities alongside measurable results across its AI-powered workflows and insurance offerings. The company has had considerable momentum in 2026, advancing independent practice through a series of product enhancements, community resources and initiatives, research to spotlight the impact of independent practitioners, and more. SimplePractice continues to grow, supporting more than $14B in annual practice-level revenue.
The company update comes amid new SimplePractice data showing burnout impacts up to 42% of practitioners, with 55% citing administrative burden as a top challenge, highlighting an opportunity for purpose-built tools and technology to support clinicians inside and outside the therapy session.
New Analytics Capabilities Turn Practice Data into Powerful Insights
To support every aspect of running an independent practice, SimplePractice recently launched new analytics features designed to understand practice performance from every angle. By bringing 15+ key practice metrics directly to clinicians’ fingertips, these capabilities eliminate the need to calculate numbers manually in multiple spreadsheets, pay for a separate insights tool, or operate without critical insights entirely. With detailed views across finances, caseload, attendance, compliance, and clinician performance, the enhanced analytics experience seamlessly integrates with existing data to provide a centralized view of practice health. Practices can also set custom targets for key metrics, like monthly income or client retention, with timely goal notifications so clinicians can take action quickly. Now available at no additional charge to customers on the Plus plan, clinicians can understand practice performance and quickly spot trends, all without leaving the EHR. By integrating powerful insights directly into SimplePractice, these new features make it easier for clinicians to act on their data with confidence and manage the business side of care.
“The insights on progress note compliance have been a game changer,” said Allison Spinneweber, LCSW, Founder of East End Therapists, a 33-person group practice. “It’s been helpful to give feedback on note completion time to clinicians and encourage them to get that number down. For some, it’s totally changed their practice, as ‘beating’ their previous note completion number gamified what is typically an arduous task.”
“Setting a monthly income goal and then tracking metrics like no-show rate helps ensure we’re getting as close to our bottom-line target as possible,” adds Quanishia Gibson, LPC, Founder of With Therapy, a 7-person group practice. “The Insights tab has given me a more holistic way of looking at my practice’s performance.”
Reducing Administrative Burden with Purpose-Built AI
According to SimplePractice and Heard’s 2026 Clinician Well-Being Study, 65% of clinicians are using AI in some capacity, primarily for clinical documentation (47%). Reflecting this trend, earlier this year, SimplePractice’s AI-powered Note Taker, designed with privacy and security in mind, became the number one most widely used AI-powered note-taking solution among behavioral health clinicians. This paved the way for the launch of Care Aide, an AI-powered clinical workflow assistant that supports clinicians across session preparation, documentation, treatment planning, intake review, and client summaries. For clinicians who use Note Taker and Care Aide together, they can save up to nine hours, on average, each week on administrative tasks. Further, 76% of clinicians agree Care Aide helps them reclaim their time and reduces burnout, with three out of four agreeing that it helps them in providing even better care for their clients.
Eliminating Insurance Complexity to Simplify Billing and Reimbursement
Building on its commitment to reduce administrative burden, SimplePractice recently introduced enhanced insurance solutions (Insurance Essentials and Insurance Navigator) to simplify billing, documentation, and reimbursement to save practitioners’ time and get them paid more reliably. Practitioners can also look forward to a standalone credentialing service coming soon, to help guide them through the credentialing process so that they maintain their independence and their credentials remain theirs.
Early Insurance Essentials users report spending about 20% less time on billing per week. For those using Insurance Navigator to bill the top 100 payers, mental health coverage checks have proven accurate 95% of the time, and 82% of client cost estimates have been accurate within $1 of actual costs.
“Managing a private practice shouldn’t mean struggling with running a successful small business,” said Jonathan Seltzer, CEO of SimplePractice. “By combining purpose-built AI, streamlined insurance workflows, and new analytics insights, we’re helping clinicians reclaim their time and combat burnout. Throughout 2026, we’ve continued to invest in every aspect of running an independent practice so practitioners can build sustainable businesses, thrive personally and professionally, and focus on exceptional care.”
