Trilliant Health Launches Network Explorer: An Application To Improve Network Performance With Real-World Data

Network Explorer allows any health economy stakeholder to understand how referral patterns impact their network performance.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Trilliant Health, the leading provider of data-driven strategy analytics for the health economy, announced the launch of Network Explorer, an application to manage network performance.

“Every physician-patient interaction affects the network performance of every health economy stakeholder, whether they know it or not,” said Hal Andrews, Chief Executive Officer for Trilliant Health. “Referrals to other providers are made ‘in-network,’ or not. The U.S. health economy is the aggregation of millions of decisions that are made every day. Every health economy stakeholder’s network performance depends on how many of those decisions were favorable to their business, or not.”

Limited to their own data, no stakeholder has a full picture of physician-patient interactions, leaving them exposed to unknown network misalignment. For health systems, this results in missed opportunities to capture a higher share of their patients’ care. For health plans, referrals to facilities with lower quality and higher costs impact their medical loss ratio (MLR).

The Network Explorer application supports data-driven network management. With Network Explorer, users can:

Improve Network Alignment: Track referrals inside and outside a network to identify misalignment with in-network providers.

Build Provider Relationships: Explore the practice patterns of independent groups to identify physicians and practices for partnerships.

Identify Network Gaps: Analyze how network alignment differs across specialties, procedure subtypes and health plans to inform growth strategies.

Benchmark Against Competitors: Analyze the volumes and referral patterns of competitive networks to identify opportunities to compete.

“Physician decisions affect the performance of every health economy stakeholder,” said Andrews. “The volumes of every hospital and ambulatory facility depend on physicians practicing at those facilities. Likewise, the medical loss ratios of health plans and healthcare costs of self-insured employers are impacted by physician choices to order or forego services.”

Network Explorer is built atop Trilliant Health’s provider directory and national all-payer claims dataset and starts at $30,000 per year.
