Dual Board-Certified Physician and Behavioral Health Leader Joins Mission to Close The Mental Health Gap For Families
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Triplemoon, a leading tech-enabled behavioral health business, announced the appointment of Caroline Carney, MD, MSc, FAPM, CPHQ, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Carney, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Magellan Health, brings deep clinical and executive leadership in both behavioral health and primary care.
Triplemoon founder Lauren Gage said, “As both a practicing physician and the CEO of one of the nation’s largest behavioral health organizations, Dr. Carney understands not only the barriers to care that patients experience but also the overwhelming burden that primary care providers face. We are thrilled to add Dr. Carney’s knowledge and experience to our board of directors as we build our ecosystem of care delivery that provides every family, everywhere with access to the mental healthcare they deserve.”
The appointment comes as Triplemoon accelerates its expansion following a $3.5 million seed funding round led by Activate Venture Partners and LiveOak Ventures. The company addresses a critical gap in the healthcare system: while 39 million children in America need mental health support, only 20% receive it. Meanwhile primary care providers are left to shoulder this burden alone triaging 55%+ of mental health cases. Triplemoon’s collaborative care model integrates family-centric mental health services directly into a primary care setting.
“As a healthcare executive and practicing dual board-certified psychiatrist and internal medicine doctor, I have seen first-hand how untreated mental health conditions impact both patients and their providers,” said Dr. Carney. “Solutions like Triplemoon that systematically address not only the behavioral health and medication management needs of patients but also the time and financial demands on providers have potential to drive a meaningful step-change in system-wide outcomes. I am thrilled to be part of Triplemoon’s Board of Directors to help Lauren and the broader Triplemoon team further their vision to provide mental healthcare to every family, everywhere.”
Triplemoon’s Collaborative Care model integrates seamlessly into existing primary care practices helping to improve patient outcomes, expand provider capacity and boost clinic profitability. For patients this model offers unparalleled access to behavioral healthcare that is more timely, affordable, and comprehensive.
Triplemoon’s multi-disciplinary behavioral health team including psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers, work together with the primary care provider to deliver integrated behavioral healthcare for patients. The team brings deep experience in pediatric and perinatal mental health in particular.
Dr. Carney joins a board that includes venture leaders from Activate Venture Partners and LiveOak Ventures, alongside executive advisors with deep expertise in healthcare delivery, clinical quality, and digital health delivery.
