SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Yuyu Teijin Medicare, a home healthcare joint venture between Yuyu Pharma of Korea and Teijin Pharma of Japan, has completed a pilot delivery of medical supplies by drone to a ventilator patient living on a remote Korean island.
In the test, a drone carrying ventilator supplies, including breathing circuits and filters, flew about three kilometers from the mainland to the island in three minutes. The same journey by conventional transportation had taken approximately 20 minutes, reducing delivery time by about 85%. The pilot demonstrates how emerging technologies can help extend home healthcare services beyond traditional logistics, particularly for patients living in geographically difficult-to-reach areas.

Building the Future of Home Healthcare
Based on the pilot, Yuyu Teijin Medicare plans to move toward regular monthly drone deliveries by the end of 2026 and explore partnerships with local governments and drone operators in 2027 to expand the service to additional island communities.
Drone delivery will complement the company’s existing in-person equipment inspections and patient support rather than replace them.
The initiative reflects a broader direction for Yuyu Teijin Medicare: moving beyond traditional medical-device rental toward a technology-enabled home healthcare platform.
In addition to respiratory medical devices, the company is exploring remote monitoring, artificial intelligence, drones and robotics that could make healthcare at home more accessible while helping aging patients maintain greater independence.
